May 29, 2008 Letter to the Editor Artist impressed with local art show To the Editor, I want to tell all of you just how wonderful our experience here this weekend has been. As an artist, rarely have I met with such hospitality and kindness as the people of Ritzville have shown all of us. I’m not certain if I feel more like an honored guest or visiting family. Talking with the other artists, my feelings are shared. We love it here. Thank you so much for your efforts in creating and running your western art show. Thank you for inviting me. I am already looking forward to next year. Gabe Gabel Sagle, Idaho May 28, 2008 Dear Mr. Co-Chairs, (Jim Lisk and Stephen McFadden) I am writing this correspondence to you to officially thank you for your incredible hospitality. Your event, still in its infancy, is far and above more advanced than any similar show that I have attended. And I travel through-out North America performing at Western events. In fact none have treated me with the warmth and respect as yours. I would like to think that the two of you as well as Cheri, Sandy, the committee, volunteers and the many other folks I met will end up being friends for life. Listening to your new plans for next year I realized that you are truly committed to making the Ritzville Western Art Show one of the premier events in the Western United States. I sincerely thank you and look forward to a long and wonderful relationship. You are a class act! Keep yer ponies fresh and yer powder dry! Diamond Doug Keith Cowboy Poet and Cowboy Cartoonist Domain, Manitoba, Canada...Hotbed of romance and intrigue! Dear Jim and Stephen I writing to thank you for a wonderful art show. The hospitality was tremendous and the enthusiasm infectious. In only your second year you have pulled off a truly spectacular event and I know it will only get better in the years to come. Thank-you for letting me be a part of it. See you next year! All the best Anita Klein Hi Jim, We sure enjoyed ourselves at the Western Art Show last weekend, and it was great to meet you. Thanks again for the wonderful caricature, it really blew us away! We look forward to playing for you again sometime. Happy Trails, Bruce & Sue aka Nevada Slim & Cimarron Sue Hi Jim and Cheri, thanks for the e-mail about CCI and thanks again for inviting us to the Ritzville show. I am sorry that we didn't get to visit more but it was a hoot and we met alot of new people (Anita was next to us and Jack Fordyce was just next to her) We really enjoyed both of them. I had a blast doing the Quickdraw and learned alot in the process. Thanks again to you,Cheri, Stephan, and LaVonne and others for all the work you put in on the show......it showed. Doc and Patty To Western Art Lovers: If you happen to live in range of eastern Washington State, put the "Ritzville Western Art Show" on next year's Memorial Day calender. It is a "sleeper", a real surprise for everyone who attended. It will never be a big show, just very select. The sales were great. (And the wonderful people there spoil the artists to the max!) Ritzville is a very old and rather small ranching town out in the middle of the prairie. They can give lessons on hospitality to anyone. The whole town wants to create something special with their art show, and it is well on its way. This is a show that artists are going to want to get into, and they can choose the best. You will be impressed. And watch out for the Cowboy Cartoonists group...a lot of them are showing up and things get wild around those characters. Oh, yes, I have to brag...I did win Best of Show - Sculpture. Gabe Gabel |
